Neal Pire, MA, CSCS, FACSM
Neal Pire, MA, CSCS, FACSM is currently the Founder and President of Inspire Consulting Systems, a consulting firm specializing in systems and program development, sales, service, business strategy, professional staff education, and facility design for health clubs.
Prior to founding Inspire, Pire served as Vice President of Fitness and Wellness for Plus One Health Management, an industry leader in design and management for corporate fitness centers and luxury spas, providing visionary products and services for an “A-List” of clients including Fortune 500 companies and 5-Star properties across the country. At Plus One, he developed and standardized all National company-wide fitness training services, as well as all technical training and continuing education for professional staff (850+ employees / 200+ trainers company-wide). He integrated technology with human capital to create, develop and implement systems that ensured quality control of all training services. Pire was instrumental in Plus One’s achieving industry recognition as “The Gold Standard” in fitness and training services, growing the company’s list of high-profile clients four-fold during his tenure.
An industry professional for 30 years, Neal was listed as one of the top ten fitness directors and educators in the nation by The American Council on Exercise in 2004 and 2005. Neal is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and has also earned certifications from the ACSM, NASM, and ACE. He is one of only a handful of career fitness professionals who have received the prestigious credential of Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine.
Neal is a Member of the NSF International Joint Committee on Health Fitness
Facility Standards. Partnering with IHRSA, ACSM, ACE and other industry leaders, this joint committee is responsible for developing and approving facility accreditation standards designed to increase confidence in the industry from consumers, the medical community, and employers, insurance companies and other potential third-party payers. Accreditation criteria include such areas as pre-activity screening and orientation, staffing requirements, emergency and risk management procedures, and operational practices.
Neal was a co-developer of the largest athlete training program in the New York Metropolitan area. He has since developed performance enhancement centers for some of the largest facilities in the Northeastern United States, including Gold's Gym, Vision Sports Club, and the Club at Woodbridge.
An avid Sports Scientist, Neal has worked extensively with athletes at all levels – from the developmental Pee-Wee Soccer player, to the Olympic figure skater, to the NFL Pro football player. He has served on the Sports Medicine Team for the United States Olympic Committee at the 2008 Olympic Trials – Men’s Marathon, USA Track and Field, and the New York City Marathon, and is currently a Strength and Conditioning Specialist for USA Swimming’s Sports Medicine and Science Network.
Neal is a sought after fitness expert and lecturer to medical, professional, and community groups, and has been a contributor or technical consultant to local and national media such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Weight Watcher’s, Family Circle, MSNBC, Runner’s World, Shape, Fitness, Heart and Soul, and Women Outside Magazine, WB/WPIX-TV, Univision-TV, WABC-TV Eyewitness News, CBS Early Show, among others.
